A sequel to this year’s KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE, the British spy movie directed by Matthew Vaughn, is said to be in the works over at 20th Century Fox. The rumoured news will come as no surprise as the original movie, based on the comic book by Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons, made a whopping $400 million at the global box-office.
The Wrap reports the sequel news, which hasn’t been officially confirmed by the studio as yet, but doesn’t comment as to who will be involved creatively. Vaughn has a busy schedule with a planned Flash Gordon movie on the cards in the near future, as well as a-super-hero-movie-for-the-older-generation THE GOLDEN AGE, about OAPs with super-powers in a retirement home.
KINGSMAN: THE SECRET SERVICE starred Colin Firth in the lead, as well as an impressive supporting cast that included Samuel L. Jackson, Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and Michael Caine.
Most of its massive box-office haul came from overseas (a rumoured $275 million).
More news on its potential sequel as we get it.
