Vacation writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein are in early talks to write the reboot of Spider-Man franchise.
Vacation writers to pen Spider-Man movie
John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, who are writing and making their directorial debut with the Vacation remake that is about to hit cinemas, will write the new Spider-Man movie for Marvel Studios, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The duo were in fact up for directing duties on the gig, which actually went to Cop Car director Jon Watts in the end. The film, which will see Tom Holland as the superhero, will be set in high school and have a John Hughes tone to it, hence the addition of the comedy writers.
Daley and Goldstein are responsible for a string of comedy scripts, including Horrible Bosses (and its sequel), Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone.
Marisa Tomei will play the character of Aunt May in the blockbuster, which will be produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal. It will be co-production between Marvel and Sony, who hold the license for the character of Spider-Man.
The new Spider-Man will make his debut in next year’s Captain America: Civil War, before heading to a stand-alone movie set for release on July 28. 2017.
