Breaking: ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ movie starts shooting in October

Absolutely FabulousJoanna Lumley has just revealed the date that Edina Monsoon & co will return to cause calamity on the fashion circuit, this time on the big screen.

The much-anticipated Absolutely Fabulous movie commences filming in October in the South of France. The news was broken during an interview on ITV’s This Morning.

Starring and created by Jennifer Saunders and following the booze-fuelled, outrageous antics of egomaniac PR agent Monsoon and her best friend Patsy (Lumley), the BBC sitcom ran from 1992 – 2012. It co-starred Jane Horrocks as lunatic receptionist Bubble, Julia Sawalha as daughter Saffron and June Whitfield as Mother. All the cast are reportedly reassembling. The series was noted for its high-profile guest turns, from personalities as diverse as Kate Moss and Lulu. Most recently it featured Sofie Gråbøl from The Killing.

The information came out when the actress was asked about the status of Saunders’ script. She replied she hadn’t read all of it, but that the date had been set for cameras to roll. Edina and Patsy know all about rolling of course, having tumbled out of a few taxis in their time!

Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie should be hitting cinemas next year.
