Halloween is going to send a few more shivers up the spine than usual, with the arrival of Alan Howarth in the UK for a series of live performances based on his classic film scores.
Best known for his collaborations with John Carpenter, he’ll be bringing one of their best known movies to life, recreating the soundtrack for Escape From New York alongside a screening of the movie itself. Kurt Russell‘s futuristic mercenary Snake Plissken is heading to the Manhattan of 1997 (!) all over again, this time at the unlikely but evocative location of Union Chapel in Islington.
If that isn’t enough, it’ll be followed by a medley of positively blasphemous excerpts from Halloween parts II – VI. Watch the king of the slashers Michael Myers create a river of blood in Haddonfield, as Donald Pleasence‘s Dr.Loomis tries to stop his assorted rampages.
Both shows are packed with extras – Howarth is following Escape with a live set in which he’ll rework the source material for a modern audience. And before the Halloween combo he’s bringing you the likes of Big Trouble In Little China, Prince Of Darkness and more from his association with Carpenter.
All this nastiness is for a good cause – Union Chapel is renowned for its charitable activities, such as a drop in centre for the homeless, and proceeds from the events will go toward essential restoration and development.
Escape From New York happens on the 30th October, with the Halloween II – VI Medley taking place on the 31st, the ultimate night of evil! The gates to hell are thrown open at 6.30 sharp…
