It’s been off our screens for twenty-five years, so characters from the next generation were always expected to feature in the revival of offbeat TV saga Twin Peaks. Yet fans may well have received a surprise with the news Hollywood star Amanda Seyfried has been cast in the upcoming Showtime series.
Details of the role she’ll play in David Lynch and Mark Frost‘s warped supernatural soap opera have yet to be confirmed, though she’ll apparently be a key component of the resurrected show. Shooting is currently taking place in Washington State and New York.
Seyfried joins returning lead Kyle MacLachlan, who’s back as quirky FBI man Special Agent Dale Cooper. Lynch and Frost are writing all the episodes, with Lynch lining those lenses as only he knows how. Last time he worked on Peaks for the small screen the helmer famously abandoned the shooting script for a notorious part-improvised finale. Originally announced as a limited run, the count expanded via negotiations after Lynch’s temporary departure over budgetary issues.
The high profile actress’s involvement truly ushers in a new era for the small town filled with secrets.
