Kingsman 2 will apparently shoot in April of 2016

Kingsman.

We were talking just a couple of days ago about Matthew Vaughn and his hiring to direct a new spy movie of the Terry Hayes book I Am Pilgrim. In that article we mentioned that Vaughn was currently hard at work on a sequel to this year’s surprise hit Kingsman with co-writer Jane Goldman. It looks like Kingsman 2 has just been given a go-date of April of next year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The apparent scheduling of an April shoot is allegedly causing a spot of bother with the schedule of Kingman‘s lead actor; the superb Taron Egerton. It seems that Edgerton is set to film the Robin Hood: Origins movie in February, which could overlap with the Kingsman sequel, which he is contracted to do.

The trade builds on the situation between Fox, who will release Kingsman 2, and Lionsgate, who are prepping the Robin Hood movie.

[Robin Hood: Origins] is looking to begin shooting in February, and its scope and length would create a conflict with Kingsman 2. At this stage, Fox isn’t budging. Its option on Egerton puts it in first position, meaning Kingsman 2 could trump Hood. However, Lionsgate is further ahead in preproduction and is making offers to actors to play Hood’s Merry Men.

We’re sure they’ll sort it all out. Egerton is one of the UK’s brightest stars, and hottest rising talents. He will next be seen in Eddie The Eagle, the biopic of the legendary British ski-jumper.
