Angry Birds movie in the works

For almost twenty years, since the lofty heights of SUPER MARIO BROS, Hollywood has been cocking up video game adaptations. Decent movie versions of popular games are few and far between, but the lure of jumping on a money-spinning bandwagon remains impossible for the studios to resist. It should come as no surprise then that touch-screen phenom ANGRY BIRDS is set to fly onto the silver screen. According to Variety, the ex-chairman of Marvel Studios Mikael Hed has teamed with games maestros Rovio to bring the project to life.

‘People are interacting with these chracters six inches from them each time they play,’ announced Hed, ‘and that creates an emotional connection… It’s a global thing that’s something I’ve never seen before. It will be exciting to expand within Hollywood.’

Hed and Rovio are sure to secure a sizable nestegg with the project, as ANGRY BIRDS has become such a popular attraction for smart phone owners around the world. Regardless, something smells like birdshit…
