One of the best actors from the hit US TV show THE SHIELD has joined the cast of Steven Spielberg’s LINCOLN. Walton Goggins will play play Ohio Congressman Wells A. Hutchins, a ‘progressive Democrat who goes against his party and votes in favor of the Thirteenth Amendment to abolish slavery.’
He joins the already cast Daniel Day-Lewis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Tim Blake Nelson, James Spader, David Costabile, Joseph Cross, John Hawkes, Hal Holbrook, Byron Jennings, Dakin Matthews, Bruce McGill, Boris McGiver, Gloria Reuben, Jeremy Strong and David Warshofsky.
Speilberg directs the film, based on the best-selling book, “Team of Rivals,” by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin who also wrote the screenplay with Tony Kushner.
Shooting kicks off in Virginia later in the year.
