Hollywood goes social with ‘Inside’

Hollywood is always looking to push the boundaries and utilise the latest fads (3D) and technological advances (3D) in productions and now the Intel Corporation and Toshiba are looking to use the social networking experience to bring a new interactive project called INSIDE to the screen. Now, I’ve spent the best part of the morning delving into reading about this, and just what these two electronics and computer manufacturers intend to produce.

INSIDE is coming to the screen from I AM NUMBER FOUR, EAGLE EYE and DISTURBIA director DJ Caruso, and the interactive experience will star US Shamless and THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA hottie Emmy Rossum and will also boast the Academy Award winning talents of AVATAR cinematographer Mauro Fiore.

According to a press release, Rossum plays the role of Christina, a 20-something woman trapped in a room with only a 2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor-powered Toshiba Satellite® P775 series laptop and an untraceable Internet connection. Unable to determine where she is being held or what her fate might be, Christina uses the laptop to mobilize her social network, reaching out to friends, family and anyone else who can help her figure out where she’s being held and how to escape.

So, here is how it’s going to work. Rather than just being able to sit on their backsides and glue their eyes to the movie, users will be able to take to the social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to connect with the central character of Christina. You can give her advice, tips and help change the outcome of proceedings. Producers have also put out a casting call at the official website. The social casting call will result with one lucky participant cast to play a role via a YouTube video that will then be incorporated into one of the film’s episodes.

Episodes will start to air online from July 25, when all of the fun begins! The episodes will then be all glued together and shown in cinemas from August 14th. Sounds exciting. Hit the link above for more, and check out the trailer for the project below.
