It’s that time of year again fellow Doctor Who lovers and we’ve got the first look and details for this year’s Christmas special!
Peter Capaldi‘s Doctor has taken us into another phase of the Timelord’s life with bigger adventures and more captivating stories. This doesn’t take away from those before him but it has been vitally important for the Doctor to always change. Saying that, series 9 has also held the drifting memories of everything gone before and so it seems very apt – and possibly amazing – that (if you didn’t already know) a huge favourite is back… it’s Alex Kingston‘s River Song!
The Christmas episode is called ‘The Husbands of River Song‘ and here’s your official synopsis:
“It’s Christmas Day on a remote human colony and the Doctor is hiding from Christmas Carols and Comedy Antlers. But when a crashed spaceship calls upon the Doctor for help, he finds himself recruited into River Song’s squad and hurled into a fast and frantic chase across the galaxy. King Hydroflax (Greg Davies) is furious, and his giant Robot bodyguard is out-of-control and coming for them all! Will Nardole (Matt Lucas) survive? And when will River Song work out who the Doctor is?
All will be revealed on a starliner full of galactic super-villains and a destination the Doctor has been avoiding for a very long time.”
We all know he’s just sneaked into Gallifrey after the most astonishing performance so far and so by Christmas? It could be very special indeed. So put down the festive Christmas games and tune in on the big day.
