Deadline report that Noah Oppenheim has been signed to write the upcoming remake of WARGAMES. Seth Gordon (HORRIBLE BOSSES) is still attached to direct.
The original film, released in 1983, starred a young Matthew Broderick as a computer genius who hacks into a government system and, thinking it’s all a game, accidentally initiates a nuclear weapons system that could start World War III.
Oppenheim has yet to see a completed script on the big screen, but he’s behind-the-scenes of a few upcoming projects including THE SECRET LIFE OF HOUDINI, JACKIE and the remake of SNABBA CASH.

It really doesn’t need it. Not because the original is a classic and can’t be beaten….because it REALLY doesn’t need it.
