Tulip Fever first look
The very first image from the upcoming Justin Chadwick film Tulip Fever has been released. The film features an all-star cast that includes Dane DeHaan, Jack O’Connell, Christoph Waltz and Alicia Vikander, as well as Holliday Grainger, Dame Judi Dench, Cara Delelevingne and Matthew Morrison. and is set to hit our screens next year. Check out the Tulip Fever first look above.
Set in the Netherlands in early the 17th-century, during the period of the Tulip mania, an artist (Dane DeHaan) falls for a married young woman (Alicia Vikander) while he’s commissioned to paint her portrait by her husband (Christoph Waltz). The two invest in the risky tulip market in hopes to build a future together.
The first image dropped over at Imgur last night, and shows off Waltz and Vikander in full period garb. The Weinstein Company are behind the film after acquiring the rights from Paramount Pictures back in 2014.
The movie has been in the works over in Hollywood for quite some time, with Jude Law and Keira Knightley attached to star all of the way back in 2004 with Mrs. Brown director John Madden directing. That projectfell through after changes in tax rules affecting film production in the UK.
Tulip Fever has been in the can for quite a while and actually screened at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The film has some extremely talented people behind the camera as well as in front of it. Chadwick (Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom) directs from a screenplay by Tom Stoppard (adapted from Deborah Moggach’s novel), along with music by the great Danny Elfman. The signs are good. Very good.
