Lamborghini biopic: AMBI Group plan movie based on the life and career of the Italian car legend.
A Lamborghini biopic is the being planned. A film based on the life of the legendary sports car manufacturer Ferruccio Lamborghini (pictured), is set to be delivered by Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi’s AMBI Group , who have optioned the film rights.
It is being reported that the film will be titled Lamborghini: The Legend, and will start shooting in Italy and other exotic locations next summer. The news follows word that a Ferrari biopic will start production soon, starring Christian Bale and directed by the legendary Michael Mann.
The Lamborghini biopic will be based on a book by the legend’s son Torino, and will track his father’s life from the manufacturing of tractors (Lamborghini Tractors) at the start of his career, to creating military vehicles during World War II, and then on to designing and building the Lamborghini cars that ultimately defined his profound legacy.
“I am very proud to produce a film about an iconic man who had such a profound impact around the world, and left a legacy that lives on in such strong spirit,” said Andrea Iervolino. “Ferruccio Lamborghini was a pioneering businessman who brought honor to Italy and helped raise worldwide awareness for not just cars, but all products made in Italy. He started from scratch, relying only on his great passion and an unbridled desire to succeed in life – a desire he fulfilled.”
Monika Bacardi added, “This story of Lamborghini is not only about cars, engines and a remarkable career. There is a fascinating, but lesser-known private life and a beautiful love story that will be told though our movie.”
There’s no mention of any screenwriter or director attached in the official press release, but with shooting planned for just a couple of months time, we’re sure there’ll be an announcement soon. We’ll bring you more as we get it.
