February brings with it the first high-profile horror film of the year as The Forest arrives in cinemas. The film stars Game of Thrones actress Natalie Dormer as a young woman investigating her sister’s disappearance. Just before it arrives in cinemas The Forest will open the 11th Frightfest Glasgow.
The film kicks off a record thirteen films that will screen as part of the Glasgow Film Festival. Further to The Forest the line-up also features Cell, an adaptation of one of Stephen King‘s novels. It’s a very interesting tale that sees our trusty mobile phones turn us into homicidal zombies and stars both John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson.
The rest of the Frightfest programme is made up of The Hexecutioners, Anguish, The Mind’s Eye, Patchwork, The Wave, Southbound, SPL2: A Time For Consequences, The Other Side Of The Door, Baskin, Martyrs, and The Devil’s Candy.
The event runs from Thurs 25 Feb to Sat 27 Feb 2016, and will also feature a whole host of unmissable shorts, guest director Q & A’s, great give-aways and a sneak preview of Paul Hyett’s Heretiks, with the popular director in attendance.
Speaking about the event and selection of films Alan Jones had the following to say:
“After its biggest year ever, raising the terror landscape bar in August and our diversification into other major media platforms, FrightFest returns to its beloved Glasgow Film Festival with a programme that celebrates the ground-breaking, the innovative, the unique, the extreme but most essentially all that’s best and keynote about the action horror fantasy genre. So please be seated for the frights of your lives!”
Passes for the full line-up go on sale today with individual film tickets available from Monday 25th January.
