We’ve barely recovered from the tour de force that was Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens and already there’s news everywhere about the next one. Today sees production officially get underway in London’s prestigious Pinewood Studios and it appears that John Boyega and Daisy Ridley will be getting some brand new cast mates.
News broke earlier over on the Star Wars Facebook page that the trio of Benicio Del Toro, Laura Dern, and Kelly Marie Tran will help bolster the already large cast.

Given how amazing both Brick and Looper were, we have every faith that Rian Johnson will be able to answer the gauntlet thrown down by JJ Abrams. His choosing of both Del Toro and Dern just reinforces our backing. What we’re really waiting for though is the news that Johnson’s close friends (who handily are also actors), Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Noah Segan will feature in some way. Both have starred in all three of Johnson’s movies and it’d be a shame to break tradition.
Star Wars VIII will arrive in cinemas across the galaxy from 15th December 2017.
