Yes, we’re calling this right now. As you may be able to tell from our title, we are about to see a Nicolas Cage renaissance. Just like with Matthew McConaughey a few years back. Following a string of direct-to-DVD duds like Dying Of The Light and Left Behind, we believe we are about to see a return to form for the Oscar winner, and it will start with The Trust.
Those that are attending SXSW next week will be able to see the film where Cage and Elijah Wood will play a pair of cops investigating a drug invasion stumble upon a mysterious bank vault. An international trailer for the film has just dropped, and you can see it below. It looks quite brilliant, though we haven’t seen the film and could be wrong of course. However, with roles in Oliver Stone’s Snowden, The Croods 2 and Paul Schrader’s new film Dog Eat Dog, based on Eddie Bunker’s (Mr. Blue) novel, coming up, we’re sure we’ll get the supreme, well-honed Cage back at the top of his game. Time will tell.
Here’s the trailer for The Trust.
