Jake Johnson, best known for his role in the hit TV series New Girl, has joined he cast of The Mummy reboot opposite Tom Cruise. We reported that Annabelle Wallis would also appear in the monster-movie reboot at the studio just yesterday as an archaeologist, and now The Hollywood Reporter confirms Johnson’s casting as a member of the military.
The storyline is set in the modern day, with Cruise set to play a special forces soldier. Sofia Boutella will play the title character.
Johnson also appeared in last year’s Jurassic World at Universal, where The Mummy also resides.
Alex Kurtzman will direct the big-budget flick, with the film landing in cinemas next July.
