The news of the Elton John Kingsman 2 casting comes from the pages of The Hollywood Reporter, who don’t say as to whom John will play in the forthcoming sequel, which is about to go into production, but do suggest that he may be playing himself.
Matthew Vaughn is directing the Kingsman sequel, and Taron Egerton is returning, alongside new villain Julianne Moore, Halle Berry and perhaps Colin Firth, whose character sadly met an untimely end in the first film. THR also state that Mark Strong may also return for another adventure.
We got our first look at a poster for Kingsman: The Golden Circle just last week, and this was the indicator that Firth may be back as the text seems to refer to his character of Harry Hart.
The trade has a little about the sequel’s story.
The new movie continues the adventures of a wayward tough (Egerton) from the wrong side of London who was taken in and, a la Pygmalion, turned into the best and brightest of British operatives.
The word on the street is that the film will have much more of an international feel and won;t just be set in the U.K. Berry’s character is thought to be the head of the C.I.A. which backs up the rumours.
Production will start very soon for a 2017 release. Matthew Vaughn directs from a screenplay that he co-wrote with Jane Goldman. More on the Elton John Kingsman 2 news as we get. Let us know your thoughts on his casting.
