Jumanji remake: Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart are now linked with the imagining of the 1996 movie.
It is being reported that Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart could be heading for the Jumanji remake over at Sony Pictures.
The two actors, who appear in this summer’s upcoming comedy Central Intelligence, are said to be linked with the remake of the classic 1990s Robin Williams-led adventure movie that’ll be directed by Jake Kasdan. The film already has a release date set for July 28th 2017.
For that release date to be met, shooting has to start very soon. Both actors are intensely busy with Johnson still shooting the Baywatch movie, and then the next instalment in The Fast and The Furious series, and then there’s also the Rampage film, which is based on the classic video game of the same name (we’re hearing that this may shoot next year now). Hart has the remake of French film The Intouchables coming up with Bryan Cranston, which could go into production relatively soon.
The Jumanji remake is actually a re-imagining, a project that is a high-priority at Sony Pictures. Here’s the synopsis of the 1996 original if you need a little reminder.
A magical board game unleashes a world of adventure on siblings Peter (Bradley Pierce) and Judy Shepherd (Kirsten Dunst). While exploring an old mansion, the youngsters find a curious, jungle-themed game called Jumanji in the attic. When they start playing, they free Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), who’s been stuck in the game’s inner world for decades. If they win Jumanji, the kids can free Alan for good — but that means braving giant bugs, ill-mannered monkeys and even stampeding rhinos!
Expect shooting to commence on the bound-to-be-effects heavy adventure very soon.
