The next ‘X-Men’ movie will be set in the 1990s

X-Men: Apocalypse debuted at a special fan screening in London last night, and it has been getting some pretty mixed reviews. We’ll hold off on posting our view until release week, but here’s some news concerning the next X-Men film. ‘Apocalypse’ is set in the 1980s, but word reaches us this morning that the next movie will jump forward to the 1990s. Expect loads of Bros. and Take That references then.

No real surprise of its setting given that X-Men: First Class was set in the 1960s, and then 2014’s ‘Days Of Future Past’ taking place in the 1970s.

Producer Simon Kinberg spoke to ComingSoon.net where he confirmed the setting, but it is unclear if the new film is the next film in the current X-Men series, or director Josh Boone’s in-development New Mutants feature.

We’ll obviously bring you more as we get it.
