Eli Roth has signed on the dotted line to direct Bruce Willis in the Death Wish remake over at MGM/ Paramount.
The news comes after Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado (Big Bad Wolves) stepped down from directing the feature over ‘creative differences’ recently. The Hollywood Reporter reported on Roth’s hiring at the studio. The original film, which starred screen legend Charles Bronson, was an adaptation of a 1972 novel by Brian Garfield and told of a man who goes on a revenge spree after his wife is killed and his daughter is sexually assaulted.
Scott Alexander and Larry Karazewski adapted the new retelling of the story, rewriting Joe Carnahan’s previous screenplay. Carnahan himself was attached to direct the film back in 2012.
