It looks like Robert Downey Jr., Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow are determined to get a Sherlock Holmes 3 into motion after assembling a team of talented writers to come up with an idea for a second sequel.
Variety reports that Guardians of the Galaxy screenwriter Nicole Perlman, Baywatch scribe Justin Malen, “Rogue One” writer Gary Whitta, Tomb Raider’s Geneva Dworet-Robertson and Snowden‘s Kieran Fitzgerald will all sit down to bash out ideas for a new Holmes adventure, which will see Downey play the title character and Jude Law assume the role of Dr. Watson.
Guy Ritchie is set to return to direct the film, supposedly following his work on the live-action Aladdin. Susan Downey, Dan Lin, Joel Silver and Lionel Wigram are attached to produce.
Both of the previous films have brought in over $500 million at the box-office.
More as it comes in.
