How To Kill Time Until Game Of Thrones Season 7 Is Released

Game Of Thrones is one of the most successful TV show in the past decade with 109 Primetime Emmy nominations over the first six seasons. The show currently takes the 4th spot on the IMDB ranking of best TV Shows, leaving only the masterpieces of Band of Brothers (2001), Planet Earth (2006), and Breaking Bad (2008) in front of them with minimal difference.

Unfortunately, the creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have confirmed the rumors that the George R.R. Martin novel-based series will end after the next two seasons. While the exact release date of Season 7 is not known yet, HBO has confirmed that the fans will have to wait until the summer of 2017 to see how the thrilling cliffhanger of last season will turn out. One can only hope the last two seasons will contain epic cinematography such as in The Battle Of The Bastards episode.

While reviewing infographics or re-watching the show are some good ways to make headway into the summer, the success of the show also naturally led to a tremendous spawn of related games to keep the Game Of Thrones enthusiasts busy until the start of the seventh season.

The most obvious option is the 2014 video-game Game Of Thrones, which is virtually available for any platform you can think of: Android, iOS, Windows, OS X, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. This episodic graphic adventure is developed by Telltale Games and takes place concurrently with the television series, covering the end of the third season up until the start of the fifth season. The game has received great ratings on prominent game websites such as IGN, and surely is a great way to kill some time until the next episode is finally released.

When you would rather play an RPG than an adventure game, the Game Of Thrones role-playing game from 2012 is a decent option. This game will keep you busy for about 20 hours while you revisit the events that took place during the first season of the show. You take on the role of Alester Sarwyck, a knight serving the Lannister House, and Mors Westford, a ranger of the Night’s Watch. The game has four alternative endings, therefore having a good replayability.

If you like to take a gable every once in a while, VoodooDreams offers a beautiful slot game in which you can serve one of the four great Houses of Westeros. The game features short clips from the TV show and has a fun bonus game where you can win bug by flipping Arya’s Valar Morghulis coin that she used to enter the cult of the Faceless Men.

In case you are more into social board games, A Game Of Thrones: The Board Game has released a Second Edition which can be played by 3 to 6 players and takes between two and four hours to complete. Each player takes on the role of one of Houses of the Seven Kingdoms and every round consists of three phases: the Westeros Phase, the Planning Phase, and the Action Phase. After 10 rounds with many surprising and exciting events, the player with the most castles and strongholds is crowned the winner and takes the Iron Throne as the ruler of Westeros.

Unsurprisingly, there are also Game Of Thrones-themed version of classic board games such as Monopoly, Clue, Risk in case the official board game does not appeal to you. In addition, there are also card games and trivia games available, the latter which can be used to finally settle longstanding arguments between hardcore fans about who knows more about the TV show.

Hopefully the suggestions above will somewhat tender the pain of the long wait that is ahead until we can finally find out how Game Of Thrones will proceed. Unfortunately the TV series has caught up with the books, so we will not be able to indulge in those anymore. Until it is finally summer, Valar Dohaeris!
