Amazon mafia series sets Robert De Niro opposite Julianne Moore, under the direction of David O’Russell.
More on the forthcoming Amazon mafia series below.
Robert De Niro is set to headline an Amazon mafia series to be helmed by his Silver Linings Playbook and Joy director David O’Russell. Julianne Moore will also star in the as yet untitled series which will be set over two seasons.
Each season of the series will consist of eight episodes with O’Russell writing and directing every single one of them. The rumour over at Deadline is that the two seasons will cost a massive $160 million.
Alexandra Milchan, Scott Lambert, Megan Ellison, Harvey Weinstein and David Glasser will executive produce.
This is obviously a huge deal, particularly of the rumoured subject matter and the current high standing of the supremely talented O’Russell.
We don’t know too much more at this stage, but we’re already pretty excited at the prospect of seeing De Niro in any kind of gangster drama.
Of course, he will next year also shoot the next martin Scorsese crime movie, a film titled The Irishman which is based on the book I Heard You Paint Houses. He will appear opposite Al Pacino and possibly his Casino and Goodfellas co-star Joe Pesci in that movie, a $100 million epic that sees De Niro play Frank ‘the Irishman’ Sheeran, a hitman for the mob. The film is currently set for a 2018 release.
Julianne Moore has just completed work on the sequel to Kingsman, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which will hit screens in the spring. She plays the villain in the Matthew Vaughn directed sequel and will then be seen in Todd Haynes’ next film Wonderstruck, which is currently in post-production, and then the George Clooney directed Suburbicon opposite Matt Damon.
