Patrick Wilson has been cast in Warner Brothers’ stand-alone DC Comics movie Aquaman. Wilson, who will next be seen in the Michael Keaton-led The Founder, will play the super-villain Orm, also known as Ocean Master in Aquaman, which is being directed by James Wan.
Deadline reports the news that he joins the already-cast Jason Momoa, who plays Aquaman, Amber Heard who has been cast as Mera, Queen of Atlantis, and Willem Dafoe, who plays advisor Vulko.
Here’s a little bit more about the character of Orm.
Ocean Master first appeared in Aquaman #29, introduced as Orm and was Aquaman’s half-brother, son of Tom Curry (Aquaman’s father) and a woman named Mary O’Sullivan. Orm had no super powers, being fully human, he was jealous of Aquaman. Designing a special suit that would allow him to operate underwater, he became a menacing pirate and terrorist and would often attempt to usurp Aquaman’s throne.
Wilson also played, via voice anyway, the role of POTUS in this year’s Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice.
The film is scheduled to hit cinemas in October 2018 with shooting kicking off very soon.
