Gerard Butler has signed up for a new action movie named Snow Ponies, a film based on a screenplay that was on the Black List (the best screenplays of the year) back in 2006. Butler will also produce the film, along with Alan Siegel through their G-BASE production company.
In Snow Ponies, a crew of seven hardened men travel across a vicious landscape to deliver a mysterious package. Met by murderous bandits and brutal obstacles at every turn, they are forced to choose between survival and honor, loyalty and deceit, all the while wondering what secrets their precious cargo may contain.
Darrin Prescott, who is a renowned second unit director, known for his work on Black Panther, Captain America: Civil War, John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2, and Drive, will make his directorial debut with the film.
The project, which is being financed completely by Sierra/Infinity, is being taken to Berlin next week and the European Film Market where it will be sold to prospective buyers.
“The combination of a globally respected actor in Gerard and a dynamic emerging filmmaker in Darrin Prescott give this action film great potential to engage audiences and take them on a journey into a world full of dangerous characters and plot twists,” said Nick Meyer, CEO of Sierra/Affinity. “We are pleased to again be working with Kelly and the team at 87eleven who continue to identify not only unique and compelling material, but also cultivate the next generation of filmmakers.”
