Annette Bening, who will be seen in this week’s outstanding 20th Century Women, has joined the cast of Katrina: American Crime Story. The FX based series is the continuation of the American Crime Story brand over on the network, and will be based on the aftermath of the devastating Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana.
Ryan Murphy, Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson are executive producing the new show, which follows the success of their American Crime Story: The People Vs O.J. Simpson in 2015.
Bening will play Kathleen Blanco, the Governor of Louisiana during and after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina according to the network. Shooting is set to start very soon for an air date penciled in for 2018.
