There was a time when all you could find on the TV was some soaps and documentaries. You were out of options and could only find some shelter in the generic murder mysteries. But if you look back, around two decades down the lane, a good number of quality shows were aired. The best thing about the shows was that it had given us a few characters to remember and cherish.
No doubt, there are a good number of characters to remember, but for the sake of coming up with those badass ones, here I have shortlisted a few.
- Omar Little (The Wire)
Yes, when we talk about The Wire, it is confusing to choose one. The Wire crew was fantastic but when it comes choosing a badass character, could I choose someone better than Omar? The best thing about Omar is that he is not the kind of the normal gangsters you will find on the streets. You will not find him end up doing collateral damage when it comes to violence. He is such a badass that the streets of Baltimore get emptied the moment they hear the iconic whistle of Omar. Omar is a homosexual and a man who takes a moment to think before pulling the trigger. If you have watched the season 5 of The Wire, you would have got the chance to see the badass side of Omar. If you are yet a glimpse of the scenes, buy your series today for less using the discounts for entertainment.
- Walter White (Breaking Bad)
Can you imagine your high school teacher to be a badass? No, right. But then, they are not a drug kingpin too! Here we have Walter White who was a chemistry professor -gentle at heart but then, turned to be the most ruthless drug baron of his time. Remember the show and this protagonist is not for the faint-hearted people. Breaking Bad was an amazing show which showed us how an ordinary man could turn out to be a psychopath through a series of changes in his life. No doubt Bryan Cranston played the character of Walt in the most exceptional way.
- Sawyer (Lost)
Many characters in Lost could have claimed to be the badass in the series. The quarrel between Locke and Jack could have made you name one, or the grey character of Sayid must have made you think about him. But for me, Sawyer has stolen the show. His character was a transformation from a criminal to a leader. Through the seasons, there have been some situations where Josh Holloway has come out as a badass as Sawyer. The most remembered scene is where he kills Tom/ Mr. Friendly at the end of the season 3.
- Jack Bauer (24)
How would anyone make a list of badass characters and not include Jack Bauer! Yes, he did some things liking foiling the assassination attempt on the President, finding the moles in his organization and double crossing them and what not -all within the 24 hours! The beginning of the series itself showed how complicated his life was and how he was trying to mend his relationship with his wife and daughter. The challenges on the professional front to save the presidential candidate while securing his family itself shows how badass he was going to turn down the line. If you are still to catch up with Jack make sure you do and watch all the series that too at discounts with Dealslands deals.
- Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones)
At the beginning of the first season, Daenerys was shown to be a woman who had not rights on herself. She was a slave to Viserys – her brother. He wanted her to marry off to a man named Khal Drogo from the Dothraki race who can, in turn, get him a chance to have the Dothraki army. You will see her transform in the coming episodes who instead of living as a slave to her husband decides to take control of her life and later of the army after her husband’s death. You will see how badass she turns with time and decides to reclaim the throne which she believes to be hers.
No doubt, there are more you can add to the list like Vic Mackey from The Shield, Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead, etc. but these are my top five favorite badass characters of all time.
