Is Real Steel 2 Fighting Fit?

REAL STEEL is barely out of its corner swinging, but according to Bleeding Cool, a sequel may have already been considered. This will, of course, be dependent on the first film’s success at the box office, but following positive reports from this week’s London premiere (not to mention the impressive 10-minute sequence THN saw at Empire Big Screen) we’d say that the potential sequel has a fighting chance.

Speaking to Bleeding Cool, director Shawn Levy hinted that he’s hopeful for another stint in the  robot boxing arena:

‘We really fricking hope so… Some of the notions we’re playing with… for instance we went very anthropomorphic in both the design and the movement of the robots in this movie, I think we can really blow that out. The class warfare between underworld and WRB (World Robot Boxing), that’s something that seems rich. The evolution of this father and son’s relationship, and Hugh’s relationship with Evangeline…’

THN would be happen to see Levy step between the ropes and behind the camera again, as long as the third installment stars Mr T and the fourth settles the Cold War…

REAL STEEL stars Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lily, and Kevin Durand. It arrives in cinemas 14th October.
