Wuthering Heights Gets A Brooding, Windy Trailer

It’s interesting how the sight of a director’s name can change your outlook on an upcoming release. Upon first viewing the trailer for the latest adaptation of WUTHERING HEIGHTS I was ready to write it off as another brooding, pretentious melodrama. There’s numerous shots of attractive people (one of whom is the insufferable Kaya Scodelario from SKINS) staring wistfully across the moors, but very little else… but then I read that the film is directed by none other RED ROAD and FISH TANK creator Andrea Arnold. Nobody does grim like Andrea, and WUTHERING HEIGHTS gives her ample opportunity to be fantastically bleak. Though the trailer still doesn’t grab me, I’m definitely intrigued to see how the adaptation fares under her direction.

WUTHERING HEIGHTS stars Kaya Scodelario and James Howson. It is released in UK cinemas 11th November 2011.
