Rumour Of The Day: Rupert Wyatt Targeted For DC’s Green Lantern Corps

Rumour alert! Rupert Wyatt, director of films like The Gambler and previously Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes is reportedly being sought to direct DC’s planned Green Lantern Corps movie.

The Hashtag Show reports that Warner Bros. Pictures is looking in the direction of the filmmaker to direct the movie, following the release of his forthcoming sci-fi moivie Captive State, which is finally released in cinemas next month.

The source also spilled some info on the two main protagonists in the film, Hal Jordan, previously played by Ryan Reynolds in the Martin Campbell-directed Green Lantern movie released a few years back, and the slightly younger John Sewart.

Hal Jordan: Caucasian, 39 – 50. A former military test pilot, he is now a veteran of the Green Lantern Corps.

John Stewart: African- American male, 21 – 30. Prior to joining the Green Lantern Corp, he was a sniper in the military.

The film, which is the latest in a long line of stand-alone DC movies in the offing, is set for release in 2020. More as we get it.
