John Oliver is set to voice the character of Zazu in Jon Favreau’s forthcoming live-action adaptation of The Lion King over at Disney. The Wrap broke the scoop of the big casting news.
Oliver is best known for hosting HBO‘s Last Week Tonight, and will join the likes of Donald Glover, who will play Simba, Billy Eichner who is Timon, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and James Earl Jones as Mufasa. Beyonce is also reportedly in the mix to join the project, voicing Nala.
Production is set to start on the massive Disney movie very soon. The Mouse House is eyeing a July 19, 2019 release date.
