Actor Chiwetel Ejiofor may be lending his voice to the villainous Scar in the forthcoming remake of The Lion King overt at Disney. Jon Favreau is directing the live-action movie for the Mouse House, a film which already has the likes of Donald Glover (Simba) and James Earl Jones (Mufasa) amongst its talented cast.
Billy Eichner is playing Timon in the film, Seth Rogen is Pumbaa, while John Oliver has been cast as Zazu. Ejiofor is officially ‘in talks’ over at the studio, so reports The Wrap.
The original animated movie, which featured the music by Elton John and Tim Rice, as well as a score by Hans Zimmer, grossed $968.8 million globally back in the 1990s. The new redo is just one of the many live-action adaptations Disney has in the works at various stages of production.
Jeff Nathanson is writing the script on the live-action ‘Lion King’, which is set for release on July 19, 2019.
Production on the new film is already underway on the movie over in Los Angeles.
