Christopher Plummer Talks Replacing Kevin Spacey On ‘All The Money In The World’

Just last week, director Ridley Scott took the unprecedented move of replacing a key actor on his upcoming film All The Money In The World, which is set to be released on December 22nd. Christopher Plummer was announced as the actor to replace Kevin Spacey as J. Paul Getty after Spacey faced numerous sexual misconduct allegations. The reshoots were said to take 8-10 days at a reported cost of $10 million. Talking to Vanity Fair, Plummer said:

“I think it’s very sad what happened to him. Kevin is such a talented and a terrifically gifted actor, and it’s so sad. It’s such a shame. That’s all I can say because that’s it.”

Scott reportedly offered the actor the part last week.

“It’s really not replacing [Spacey]. It’s starting all over again. Although the situation is very sad. I’m very saddened by what happened to Kevin, but what can I do? I’ve got a role. I admire Ridley Scott and I’m thrilled to be making a movie for him. And so I thought, that was it. Ages ago I was in contention for [the role], way back. So I was familiar with it, and then Ridley came to me, and I agreed.”

Both Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams are also reportedly involved in the reshoots. All The Money In The World will keep it’s December 22nd release date Stateside. It is set for a January 5th, 2018 UK bow.
