Highlander is one of the latest classics set to be remade. The project has been in the works for several years but recently it has gained more traction with John Wick: Chapter Two director Chad Stahelski becoming attached to the project. With his background in fight choreography, coupled with the fantastic success of both John Wick films (Stahelski co-directed the first one), he looks to be a perfect fit. And it’s not just us that think so, we caught up with the original ‘one’, Christopher Lambert, to get his take on the production. More on the Highlander remake news below.
Highlander remake news: Original ‘One’ chimes in on reboot
Here’s what Lambert had to say on plans for the re-do.
“The thing is they’ve been talking about the reboot for like seven years, thousands of scripts,” he said to The Hollywood News. “I think this time they’ve got a really good director whose got a really good vision of what a Highlander reboot should be about, that’s for sure. I’ve seen John Wick. I think the action is extremely well filmed and choreographed.”
He also went onto give the film his blessing, even if that means he isn’t involved. “If I’m a part of it I’ll be happy, if I’m not part of it I’ll be happy too.”

It really wouldn’t be Highlander without him. Our hope would be that he takes over the role of Ramirez who was of course played by Sean Connery in the original.
So far we’re in very early stages of the movie production with no casting details confirmed, plus, before filming can get underway on Highlander, Stahelski must first finish John Wick 3. This means that sadly we don’t have any release date to look forwards to, but so far everything we’re hearing is pointing to positive things. As soon as we have more details we will share them here on the site.
