National treasure Bill Nighy and newcomer Chris Geere have joined the cast of the planned Pokemon movie Detective Pikachu at Legendary Entertainment and Universal Pictures. They join the already cast RYan Reynolds, who plays the film’s title character, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton and Ken Watanabe.
The news of Nighy and Geere’s casting comes via Heat Vision.
The trade says that the story is set into motion when Smith’s character’s father is kidnapped, forcing the teen to team up with Pikachu and a young journalist (Newton) in order to find him.
Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) is directing the project, which is now shooting in London.
In related news, some set images have already graced the internet showing a very unique approach to filmmaking.
