Variety is reporting that Mackenzie Davis has joined the cast of the planned Terminator reboot. The film is currently in pre-production, getting ready for a summer shoot, and will also star Arnold Schwarzenegger and original star Linda Hamilton.
Plot details are being kept under wraps but the trade says that Davis would be one of the new faces of the rebooted franchise, in the vein of Schwarzenegger’s robotic assassin.
Davis was last seen in last year’s Blade Runner 2049, and will next be seen opposite Charlize Theron in Jason Reitman’s Tully, which opens later in the year.
The actress is officially in negotiations, with James Cameron having the official sign-off. The filmmaker, who is currently off and shooting the Avatar sequels for 20th Century Fox, will oversee the new Terminator movie with Deadpool helmer Tim Miller directing.
The Terminator movie reboot has a release date set for July 26, 2019.
