Disney’s ‘Lady And The Tramp’ Live-Action Redo Gets A Director

The planned live-action remake of Disney’s Lady and the Tramp has got itself a director. The LEGO Ninjago Movie helmer Charlie Bean is the man who has been hired for the task of bringing the new movie to screens, teaming with The Jungle Book producer Brigham Taylor. The news, which was first revealed on The Hollywood Reporter, says that the film is just one of a bunch of movies set to head to Disney’s online streaming service – the one which will rival Netflix – due to launch in 2019.

Lady and the Tramp will actually be a live-action/ animated hybird and will be based on the Mouse House’s famous 1955 classic.

The story follows a pampered cocker spaniel named Lady (Barbara Luddy) whose comfortable life slips away once her owners have a baby. When, after some tense circumstances, Lady finds herself on the loose and out on the street, she is befriended and protected by the tough stray mutt Tramp (Larry Roberts). A romance begins to blossom between the two dogs, but their many differences, along with more drama at Lady’s household, threaten to keep them apart.

We presume work on the new movie will start very soon, but there’s no specific mention on when we could expect to see a Lady and the Tramp remake on the streaming service. These projects do tend to take a little time to get made, so we’re guessing it could be potentially set for 2020 or beyond.

We’ll keep you posted.
