‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ Opens To $148 Million Worldwide In Opening Weekend

The figures for the opening weekend of Solo: A Star Wars Story, the latest offering from Lucasfilm in the stand-alone Star Wars universe, have come in at an estimated $148 million around the world.

The film took an estimated $83 million in its first three days Statside, but if you add in the fourth ‘Memorial Day’, that figure looks to stand at around $100 million in its domestic territory. Early tracking saw that the film would potentially bring in between $130 to $150 million.

Reviews of the film were pretty solid – one saving grace following the film’s troubled shoot early on in production. ‘Solo’ did attract approximately $65 million from the global markets

Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Joonas Suotamo. Woody Harrelson Emilia Clarke, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge lead the cast of the Ron Howard-directed film. Howard took to social media over the weekend addressing the box-office result.

Personally, I had a great time with the film and can’t wait to see what the studio decides to run with next. A Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi and potentially a Yoda stand-alone movie are in the works at Lucasfilm. More news as we get it.
