With Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom not opening for another couple of weeks, it was an open goal for Ocean’s 8 to score at the U.S. box-office this week, and score it did. The ensemble heist movie bagged a franchise-best $41.5 million over the three days Stateside, as well as another $12.2 million from various other territories across the world. The film opens in the UK in a week’s time.
Elsewhere in the chart, Solo: A Star Wars Story bagged another $15.2 million in North America, and $11.3 million internationally, making its grand total $176.1 million domestically and $312.2 million worldwide. That’s after two weeks out there, and with a production budget reportedly between $250 and $300 million, it’s still going to have to go some to make a profit.
Deadpool 2 rounded out the top three. The Ryan Reynolds starrer scored another $13.65 million domestically ($278.6 million total), and a whopping worldwide gross of $655 million.
Genre film Hereditary opened to $13 million in its opening three days, bagging it the number four spot. The horror film opens in the UK on Friday.
