A Star Is Born Venice debut confirmed

We’ve already seen a trailer for this – just last month – and the world awaits to see Cooper’s debut movie as a director. Early word is good, and its positioning on August 31st at the festival shows more promise for the film come awards season. We’re guessing that we may be seeing the film line-up at some of the other autumn festivals – could TIFF be a possibility? Their 2018 line-up is announced later today.

Here’s the plot synopsis for A Star Is Born, a remake of the 1976 musical which starred Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Here’s the new one’s synopsis:

In this new take on the tragic love story, Bradley Cooper plays seasoned musician Jackson Maine, who discovers–and falls in love with–struggling artist Ally (Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer… until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.

Venice runs from 29th August to 8th September and will open this year with Damian Chazelle’s First Man.

The A Star Is Born Venice debut doesn’t come too much before the film’s roll-out. It will release in the UK on October 6th. We’ll bring you a full review as soon as we can.

Keep it THN for more on Venice and the incoming TIFF line-up, which we’ll publish a little bit later on today.
