’47 Meters Down’ Sequel ‘The Next Chapter’ Gets A Trailer

I had no idea that they had made a sequel to the deep sea thriller 47 Meters Down, but apparently that is the case and a trailer for it has arrived online. The sequel has reunited the creative team behind the first film, director and co-writer Johannes Roberts, and co-writer Ernest Riera. The 47 Meters Down sequel trailer, subtitled ‘The Next Chapter’ is below.

47 Meters Down sequel trailer lands – ‘The Next Chapter’

The debut of the 47 Meters Down sequel trailer arrives on the day that Jason Statham shark flick The Meg debuts in cinemas, so the timing is perfect.

The first film was made for around $6 million but was a huge success at the box-office taking in a whopping $44 million – a great return for a film which was allegedly aimed at the DVD/ on-demand digital streaming market.

“We are so pleased by the huge success of 47 Meters Down; it totally exceeded all expectations,” said James Harris of the UK-based The Fyzz Facility (via Collider) when the sequel, which was originally going to be called 48 Meters Down (genius) was announced. “48 Meters Down will take the claustrophobia of cave diving and the thrill of shark encounters and move everything to the next level.”

The action in the sequel will be relocated from Mexico to the depths of Brazil, and will reportedly focus upon a group of girls that head to an underwater paradise of ancient ruins, which just so happen to be inhabited by some ferocious sharks.

47 Meters Down: The Next Chapter will swim into cinemas in the summer of 2019, so there’s a little bit of time to wait until you get your next bite of the action.

To tide you over until then (we promise that’s the last of the sea-based puns), here’s the 47 Meters Down sequel trailer you really want to see.
