The first trailer for the new Jason Reitman/Diablo Cody collaboration YOUNG ADULT is here. Charlize Theron plays Mavis Gary, a teen fiction writer and ‘psychotic prom queen bitch’ who returns to her home town in order to take back an ex. Undeterred by his newborn baby and successful marriage, she tells him ‘We can beat this thing together.’
YOUNG ADULT co-stars Patrick Wilson (LITTLE CHILDREN) as the ex-boyfriend in Mavis’ crosshairs, and Patton Oswalt (UNITED STATES OF TARA) as her confidant and drinking buddy.
So far the film strikes me as BAD TEACHER meets MARGOT AT THE WEDDING and Theron really shines as the boozy mess that is Mavis. Definitely looking forward to this one. Below is the alternative trailer for YOUNG ADULT, which includes an extra oral sex joke making it that little bit better than the original. Enjoy.
YOUNG ADULT hits US cinemas later this year and reaches the UK in February 2012
