Bryan Cranston made himself a household name with a role in television hit MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE. The actor took a step to the next level as everyone’s favourite methamphetamine supplier Walter White in the drama series BREAKING BAD.
The critically acclaimed show, which has just ended its fourth season in the US with a jaw-dropping finale, has seen Cranston win numerous awards as the mild-mannered science teacher turned narcotic-producing-kingpin.
The role has put Cranston in the limelight, leading to roles in the recent DRIVE and the upcoming CONTAGION, as well being cast in Len Wiseman’s TOTAL RECALL remake. He has recently spoke about his turn as the villain Cohaagen, originally played by Ronny Cox in Paul Verhoeven’s 1990 film.
‘I don’t think there is much of a challenge at all. I think the script is better. We certainly have a tremendous upgrade in our lead actor. That is less of a comment on Arnold [Schwarzenegger] and more of a comment on Colin [Farrell]. The special effects over the last twenty years have grown exponentially, so that is going to be a heightened experience. And I just think it is an exciting movie. You know it’s going to entertain — I can guarantee you that.’
TOTAL RECALL is due for release 22nd of August 2012 and also stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, Bill Nighy and Ethan Hawke.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
