This 1994 drama directed by Frank Darabont is based on the 1982 Stephen King novel called, Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption. It covers bank worked Andy Dufresne being sentence to life in Shawshank despite his innocence. The film then covers his time inside, as he spends two decades money laundering for the prison warden before escaping. This is a true classic and feel good film of the ages.

Number one has to be the 1972 American crime film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film covers the chronicles of a fictional New York crime family led by Brando and Al Pacino. This sees Pacino turn from the family outsider to ruthless mafia boss. It is regarded as one of the greatest films ever made and is the most influential in the gangster drama. It was a huge hit at the box office becoming the highest grossing film of 1972. This is due to the fact it made around $250 million from just a $5 million budget. It is a must watch for film fans.
