Ben Stiller In ‘Rentaghost’ Revamp

Growing up as a child in the eighties, the BBC childrens television show RENTAGHOST was permanent fixture of the television in our house, hell even my parents loved it.

While it has been rumoured for a while, once as a Warner Bros. vehicle starring Russell Brand, its now been confirmed that Hollywood A-lister Ben Stiller is to produce a big-screen adaptation for Fox via his Red Hour production company.

The original series ran from 1976 to 1984 and featured a supernatural business that offers the services of ‘poltergeists’ for all manor of tasks. The show was campy but fun and its concept was wholly original with its heart in the right place.

Stiller, who has his new movie TOWER HEIST released next month, is due to hire his NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM franchise writers Tom Lennon and Robert Ben Garant to pen the script. The ZOOLANDER star is also expected to take the lead.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
