Who Will Play McClane Jr?

The Internet has been abuzz with John McClane chat following yesterday’s news that DIE HARD 5 is go. Despite the dubious title – A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD – fans of franchise are still sure to excited at the prospect of yet another installment. With MAX PAYNE helmer John Moore on board to direct and loose plot details on the rumour-mill – early reports put John McClane in Russia (presumably in a thermal vest) – the next big question is who will be stepping into the part of McClane’s son John Jr?

The role, played by youngster Noah Land in the original DIE HARD, will be hotly contested, as it could potentially lead to bigger things. Is it possible that once Bruce Willis calls it a (yippi ki) day, he’ll hand the vest down to John Jr for further movies? A similar thing was meant to happen with Shia LaBeouf and Indiana Jones (though thankfully hasn’t so far).

There have been a few names banded about, most notably Aaron Paul (who has more than proved his acting chops on BREAKING BAD), Paul Dano (LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE), and Ben Foster (360). However, at this stage nothing has been confirmed. You can be sure that Willis will play a huge part in casting due to the creatice control he holds over the franchise. This isn’t the first time that John McClane’s kids have been brought to the foreground of the action, as Mary Elisabeth Winstead played Lucy McClane in the enjoyable DIE HARD 4.0.

A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD is set for a Valentine’s Day 2013 release
