Paramount Plans Shooting Transformers 4 And 5 Back To Back

Michael Bay’s TRANSFORMERS films are a rare breed of blockbuster that some find difficult to get their heads round. Based on Hasbro’s 80’s toy range and animated series, the franchise is huge money maker for Paramount so much so that they seem keen the put plans into action for a MATRIX style back to back sequels shoot. The studio is currently looking for writers for these next instalments while Hasbro chief  Brian Goldner admitted the company was in ‘active discussions’ with Steven Spielberg and Michael Bay on the future of the franchise.

Shia LaBeouf recently confirmed he is now done with the series and wont be returning in any future movie’s. Jason Statham is name that keeps cropping up to replace as a new lead character in future movies but no confirmation has been forthcoming from the studio. At present it is also unclear whether Michael Bay will take charge again, with passion project PAIN OR GAIN his next priority.

The original film I found was a great fun popcorn actioner but REVENGE OF THE FALLEN gave me a headache whilst DARK OF THE MOON was the first time I have sat through a movie that is so jaw-droppingly spectacular and utterly boring at the same time. I guess there are only so many times you can watch the same robots smash each other to pieces before it becomes tedious and boring.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
