Tonight The Hollywood News spent the majority of the evening talking swearing with Joe Pasquale, discovering that Tony Blackburn is a chick flick fan and found a script writer to watch in Lord Rob Walters at the KILL KEITH premiere.
Although the event, held at the Curzon cinema in Mayfair, didn’t attract the most high-profile celebrities, it still provided enough entertainment and humour to keep us laughing for four hours.
Described as “Saw meets Richard and Judy,” we caught up with the stars of the film to find out the real truth about KILL KEITH.
Keith Chegwin- (Keith)
How did you react when you heard the name of the film Kill Keith?
Andy Thompson approached me for Kill Keith and I said what’s that about and he said I haven’t got a clue. So he went away and came back in three months time with this script and I’ve never laughed so much in my life. I gave it to my 13-year-old boy to read and he said this is so funny do it. It’s a nice love story between the lead presenter and the runner intertwined with stories, one of which is that they’re looking for a new presenter and they can’t find one and everyone they do come up with gets killed in the most horrific way. You’ve got all these lovely celebrities that are willing to take part like Joe Pasquale, Russell Grant and Tony Blackburn.

Yes but wouldn’t believe the amount that said no. Andy the producer went through my mobile phone and phoned them all up and the amount that said no or ‘I can’t do that, I’ve never died on tv before or in a movie even.’ But now they’re all phoning me up saying is there a Kill Keith 2?
And is there a Kill Keith 2?
I don’t know. I’d love it but who knows.
You’ve done some acting before but not for a while…
I’ve done quite a bit in the past- I made about 7 movies as a kid and did dramas on TV but no there was a break when I did a lot of live TV presenting. Then I did Extras with Ricky Gervais and that put me on the map for acting again. So then I got this phone call from Andy and hey ho I’m in the movies now.
How was all the blood and murder on set, was it scary?
No it’s got a 15 certificate and there are some gory bits in it but its not that bad. Everybody dies in a comic way, which is nice.
Shaun of the Dead esque?
Yes there you go, it’s not even as gruesome as that.
Joe Pasquale (Joe)
Is this your first comedy horror?
First yes. I’ve done a few comedies before, but this was great because I got to swear in it. It’s the first time I’ve done anything horror wise but I get murdered in it, that’s what’s brilliant. I can’t wait to see my death.
So you must be really excited to see it?
Yeah but I’m apprehensive because it might be cack. Just seeing me swear, that’s all I want to do.
Do you think it will make you laugh?
Yeah because my son’s in the film too. I’m proud of him, he’s a good actor. It’s nice to be in a film with your son.
Did you have a lot of fun on set?
Yeah it was good, a lot of blood though. Lot of blood, a lot of make-up, it was like sand pecking park. Tarantino-esque death.
Tony Blackburn (Tony)
How was your first comedy horror?
It was very enjoyable actually, very messy and very bloody and eventually my head falls off but it was good fun. I enjoyed it.
Is it something you think you’ll do again?
I don’t know really, if somebody asks me to do something different I love doing it so if somebody asked me to do it again I’d love to.
Is there anything you found difficult to do on set?
Not really no. I just had to sit there and be electrocuted really so it was pretty easy. So it was good fun.
Are you a fan of horror comedies?
No,I like chick flicks. I like romantic comedies and all things that are nice really.
Any favourites?
Well I like the Sound of Music really and Sleepless in Seattle. I’m not into violence really. But this is a comedy violence so it’s okay.
Lord Rob Walters (Dirty Sexy Things)
Are you a fan of horror comedy?
Huge fan of comedy. I write a lot of comedy and work with the likes of Kevin Bishop and people like that.
Fantastic, so will we be seeing some scrips coming from Lord Rob soon then?
Absolutely, 100%. I’ve actually got a show that I’m writing at the moment and we’re in talks of produced. So absolutely you’re going to be seeing some of Lord Rob’s comedy soon.
Can we have a Hollywood News exclusive on that when it comes out then?
Yes you definitely can.
We’ve recently seen you on television so is acting something you might be interested in?
Acting is where my roots are. I went to Mountview acting school and I’m a trained actor who fell into modelling. Hopefully you’ll see me on the screens soon.
Joe Tracini (Tony Blackburn)
In this film you star alongside your dad, how was it?
It was interesting, I’ve not worked with my dad since I was about 9. It’s always nice to be involved in something that he’s in.
Any embarrassing moments, I hear he swears a lot?
Yeah to be honest I’m never embarrassed by anything my dad does. It’s more embarrassing the fact that I wear a lot of leather and pole dance with Keith Chegwin.
You do? That’s something to look forward to.
I appreciate the optimism but it’s not all that pleasant.
So is this your first film?
Yeah it is. I’m in Hollyoaks now, I start on screen on the 15th November which is next Tuesday but this is my first film so it’s quite exciting. I don’t do much in it so I probably ruin the bits that I’m in but it’s a nice experience anyway.
What were the most challenging moments?
Definitely sliding down a pole with leather shorts on being whipped by Keith. But it was more terrifying than challenging. It was a really low point.
In the film there’s a serial killer going round, out of everyone in the movie who’s the first one you’d go after?
Probably Marc Pickering. He plays the lead and he’s just very annoying, up himself and just not fun to work with. He’s just got one of those faces. I obviously don’t mean any of that- just a little bit of fun.
