David Schwimmer has directed gritty drama TRUST, played a WWII soldier in BAND OF BROTHERS, and even voiced an animated giraffe in MADAGASCAR… but to most, he will always be Ross from FRIENDS. However, his latest role may distance him from the character as he is set to play a mob killer in THE ICEMAN.
Schwimmer will appear as Josh Rosenthal, murderer and right-hand man to mob boss Roy Demeo (played by Ray Liotta). Seeing his employer as a father figure, he is determined to impress and will do anything to gain his respect. It is rumoured that Schwimmer may be replacing James Franco who recently pulled out of the project.
THE ICEMAN is the true story of Richard Kukliniski, a Polish American contract killer who murdered 250 men over two decades. MAN OF STEEL actor Michael Shannon has been cast in the lead role, with Maggie Gyllenhaal co-starring as his wife. Ariel Vromen is set to the direct the feature, with previous credits including DANIKA and upcoming documentary SKEPTICAL.
